Window into My Soul

I thought the title was a bit dramatic, but then I decided, actually, it’s kinda true. The window seat that I styled recently has actually been a ‘window into my soul’ in a few different ways.

Firstly, it is a window… duh.

Secondly, it has been a journey already with this whole Instagram & blogging thing. It really isn’t for the faint of heart. Having the determination to stick with something that is content creation is SUCH a challenge!

Social Media has always been the first thing for me to give up when ‘life’ takes over and gets too overwhelming. But Josh and I have been having what I have called a “long conversation” since September about our long term goals and dreams… But I won’t dive into that now (although it does give me an idea for one of my musings…)

But the point being that I am learning SOOOO much about my determination, my commitment, my confidence, and my style…. And we are only about 3 weeks into this journey!

My morning routine now starts at 5 AM!

Thirdly, this window seat has become the perfect spot for my morning routine! I read a book called, “The Miracle Morning” several years ago and have been getting up early ever since to create space for myself. My morning routine now starts at 5 AM! I NEVER would have thought I could get up that early without my HAVING to! (Oh look, I have another idea for my “Musings” section)

Along the way, I came across this word “Hygge”

hygge

/ˈh(j)uːɡə,ˈhʊɡə/

noun: a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).

Websters Dictionary

This idea of Hygge really does intrigue me. I have been both a maximalist (I did NOT want to let go of my stuff) all the way down to a total minimalist (we only brought what we could fly with when we came to NZ) and I knew that I wanted to land somewhere in the middle. I just wasn’t quite sure I knew what the middle looked like for me. “Rustic Cozy” is another term that I have found that I am drawn to. And where we live now is a bit more “modern” than my dream house… But that doesn’t mean I can’t make the most of the space that I have for the season of life we are in.

Is the style I am creating right now my permanent style? Nope, I don’t think it is… But I DO think that the more I work through these spaces, the more I will understand myself… and that is something I am looking forward to!

This window seat is just the beginning. I am so excited to create a beautiful Abode for our family.
